maybe we come from the stars descended from above to begin a new life on the earth a lasting labor of love what would you give to be the one to finally know the truth is it written in the stars? would you need to see the proof? do you want to know the truth? do you want to know the truth? do you want to know the truth? do you want to know the truth? what’s the big idea? we all know the earth is round it’s hard to know the truth with ancient aliens around what if we are all star creatures, remnants of a million suns that came before? what if we are all star creatures? what if we are all star creatures, elements of all joined forever more? what if we are all star creatures? so we may not come from the stars oh to believe that it were true birds fly to the sun i want to fly too birds fly to the sun i want to fly too birds fly to the sun i want to fly too star creatures star creatures star creatures what if we are all star creatures, remnants of a million suns that came before? what if we are all star creatures? what if we are all star creatures, elements of all joined forever more? what if we are all star creatures? absence of evidence is not evidence of absence absence of evidence is not evidence of absence absence of evidence is not evidence of absence absence of evidence is not evidence of absence

about

Band: Zen Carnival (NYC, Boston, USA)

Album: Star Creatures

“Star Creatures” represents a departure from Zen Carnival’s previous way of writing and recording, which was a more traditional linear recording process. The first ideas of the core of the new music began around 2018 or so, and was influenced heavily by European and Scandinavian electronic music. A primordial version of the music was played live in 2019 at Voice of the Valley festival near Morgantown, WV, USA. Then the Covid crisis came upon the world, and we all went into seclusion. The band at this point made a decision to commit to producing the music remotely using the Ableton Live software platform, by sharing and augmenting the music files in the cloud space.

The music slowly took form, and one song in particular, Star Creatures, the album’s namesake, pointed the musical story towards outer space themes. The resulting music is quite different from the more traditional progressive and orchestral rock of Zen Carnival’s previous three albums (“Inheritance,” 1999; “Bardo,” 2006; “Lucid Dreamer,” 2015).

“Star Creatures” is a mixture of EDM as well as ambient and symphonic textures, with the live playing of Carl, Mike, Ken, and Bill, as well as the wonderful sampled female soprano vocal sounds of guest artist, Bridget Murphy, on the tracks Ulysses and New Frontier. The music is fresh and new, but retains many of the improvisational progressive and orchestral elements that the band is known for.

Star Creatures stereo files are now available at bandcamp! Soon you’ll be able to hear the music on your favorite online streamer, including Dolby Atmos immersive mixes on select steaming services!

Star Creatures songs:

04 Nu Generation- uptempo pop dance song manifesting good vibes for us all
